Professor Mohamed Mahfouz

Knoxville, Tennessee

Dr. Mahfouz earned his Bachelors and Masters (1987 and 1992) Degrees in Biomedical Engineering (BME) from Cairo University, a Masters in Electrical Engineering (1997) from the University of Denver, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Systems (2002) from the Colorado School of Mines. He served as Director of Research at Rocky Mountain Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory in Denver (1999) and accepted a Senior Research Scientist position at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), while serving as Center Co-Director of the University of Tennessee (UT)/ORNL Center for Musculoskeletal Research (CMR). He was named Program Director for BME at UT (2007) and Chair of Institute of Biomedical Engineering iBME (2013). Currently, he is Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Mechanical Aerospace & Biomedical Engineering (MABE) of University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
